Infrared Sauna
What is an infrared sauna?
Traditional saunas use heat or steam to create an atmosphere that will heat your core body temperature. An infrared sauna uses light colours including infrared light to create heat, thereby focusing more on the heat part than the humidity part. This makes the infrared sauna more comfortable to use as you are not breathing in hot steamy air. The infrared sauna raises your core body temperature to produce sweat to cool the body, versus your body strictly reacting to the outside ambient air temperature of a dry sauna or steam. This means that in an infrared sauna, your body heats at a lower temperature allowing you to reap the benefits of the sauna more quickly.
Why Use an infrared sauna prior to your massage therapy treatment?
Adding an infrared sauna session to your massage therapy treatment will prewarm the body and relax your muscles. This means you will arrive at the massage table more relaxed. Your muscles will be warm and in prime condition for deeper stretching and tension relief. It will soften tense areas in your body, reducing pain and promoting relaxation. In this way, the infrared sauna will help prolong your healing and restorative state. It also can promote a quicker recovery from intensive massages, such as a Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger Point Therapy.
